Rodrigo Buanafina – Secretary General
Rodrigo Buanafina is a proud member of Penn State’s class of 2012 and thrilled to be your Secretary General. Born and raised in Brazil and Wales respectively, he has developed quite a liking for international issues and all things United Nations.
He is majoring in the delightful discipline of Geography with interests in International relations and Anthropology. When not playing or watching football (the one with your feet), you’ll find him talking politics, eating Indian food or memorizing capitals for his major.
He is as excited as can be for PUNC 2011 and looks forward to seeing you come February.
Ellisse Johnston – Chief of Staff
Ellisse Johnston loves being a member of Penn State’s class of 2013 and is excited to be working with the Secretary General, USG, and staffers for PUNC. Born and raised in Bermuda, she loves the beach, reading, and learning more about the issues facing the United Nations.
She is majoring in Public Relations with a minor in French and is also interested in International Relations and learning more about different cultures. When not studying she enjoys socializing, travelling to different places, and generally having a fabulous time.
She is super excited for PUNC 2011 and can’t wait to meet all of you!
Neil Schlosse – Crisis Director
Neil Schlosser is a thrill, plain and simple. He’s a dynamic Junior in Civil Engineering. When it comes to a mean challenge, there’s nobody you’d rather have on the job than this guy. This year the game is crisis director, a sizeable task you might say.
On the side Neil loves to do everything you can’t and hold it over you in order to boost his own ego. Commonly this includes playing an immeasurable amount of video games, playin’ hoes, and gettin ‘leet test sco’s, and bullying small children. He’s also not a bad cook, known for his superb chicken cacciatore and is undisputedly the best dancer the PUNC USG staff has seen since its creation.
He’s absolutely available and is super excited to see all you delegates during PUNC!
Tyler Roys – Chargé d’Affaires
Tyler Roys is from the state of Connecticut, and currently studying the wonderful field of Meteorology. When Tyler was in high school, he participated in Model UN for 2 years, and because of his love for it, he continues it today as an active member of PSIADA, and Secretary-General for PSIADA’s High School Conference – PHUNC.
In his free time, one might catch Tyler at www.campusweatherservice.com on the video forecast, or on the mp3 on selected Sundays, besides forecasting for Penn State, he also forecast for his hometown. Tyler is looking forward to working with all that come to PUNC 2011 this year, and is very excited for PUNC 2011 because of all the hard work that the group has put in since the end of the last conference.
Fight on State!
Hortense Fong – Under Secretary for Administration
Hortense Fong has never been more excited than she is for this year’s conference! Majoring in Math and Finance, her majors have little to do with international issues; however, she has come to love Model UN and is fascinated by the effects of globalization. She has studied abroad in Asia the last two summers and would love to tell you about her experiences there!
Now, fate has brought her to the exotic world of PUNC where she has met some of the toughest individuals she has ever laid eyes on. Get stoked for PUNC 2011!
Best of luck to all of PUNC’s participants!
Rory Spangler – Undersecretary for Technology Services

Outside of Penn State, Rory has been an active entrepreneur starting two companies in Los Angeles and San Francisco and currently is an owning partner in a Pennsylvania consulting firm. He spends his free time enjoying the outdoors, being adventurous, kayaking, hiking, as well as exploring the United States in spontaneous road trips.
Rory was PUNC 2010 (Pennsylvania State University United Nations Conference 2010) Secretary General. During his administration he stared down Mother Nature and won.
